Biden Administration has a Plan to Support Home Care Communities

In a new plan released a week ago, President-elect Joe Biden’s agenda included a proposition that would help Americans to get health insurance as an option, similar to Medicare-like public option. Post that, people will be free to select and choose any private insurance of their choice by spending less money to get it.

The officials related to the Biden campaign said that the plan they have proposed would make it easier to come up with a Medicare-for-All single-payer system in the coming years.

Helping Home Care Providers

Being a single parent and coming from a background of caregiving for his aging parents, Joe Biden understands what it takes to provide a living for family and care for an aging member at home. Thus, he included a 10-year plan, among his many others, to change the way people are cared for while aging at home across the United States.

In July 2020, he proposed a $775 billion transformation of the nationwide home care infrastructure and boost the caregiver economy. It is estimated that approximately 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 each day. The experts believe that the home care communities in all 50 states will have at least 4.2 million jobs for caregivers by 2026 to provide necessary care to elders and help them age-in-place.

The Pandemic Plan

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the United States of America, from Jan 3 to 23 November 2020, there have been 11,972,556 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 253,931 deaths.
As the United States crossed 10 million total coronavirus cases as of now, the Biden administration’s plan to curb the outbreak, contain it from further spreading, and the action plan to deliver the vials to every American will have to be groundbreaking. Initially, all their resources and focus will start from vaccine development and distribution. Maintaining an adequate workforce of front-line healthcare workers will also pose a major challenge, while several doctors and care professionals are getting infected and battling for life.

Those providing long and short-term care to America’s population will also need support and additional rounds of relief. During the coronavirus epidemic, home care providers have walked that extra mile in providing care for seniors even in high-risk situations. The administration will be looking after the challenges faced by them and will ensure that they never face any shortage of protective gear like personal protective equipment (PPE) kits.

During a visit to Wilmington, Delaware, President-elect Joe Biden addressed the nation during his victory speech, saying – “It’s time to get to work — and that work begins with getting the pandemic under control. We cannot repair the economy, restore our vitality or relish life’s most precious moments — hugging a grandchild, birthdays, weddings, graduations, all the moments that matter most to us — until we get this virus under control. I will spare no effort — or commitment — to turn this pandemic around.”
A lot of fellow Americans voiced their support towards the plans that promise a better life and health care at its best as shared by Joe Biden during his election campaigns. The transformation will not be easy, it will have its own roadblocks.
